conversations. SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX offers a direct connection to NBX 100 or SuperStack 3
Call Processors allowing users to easily access the rich NBX feature set, including easy access to the
3Com NBX internal name directory, NBX voice messaging system and multi-site options. Plus, you can
invoke Call Transfer, Conferencing and Call Park/Pickup from your conference room – all on a high-quality,
full-duplex conference phone. There’s no need to install special analog lines or purchase analog terminal

The SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX works with NBX 100 Communication Systems and SuperStack 3
NBX Networked Telephony Solutions running system software Release 4.0.11 or later.
I already use an analog SoundStation in conjunction with a 3Com Analog Adapter. Why should I
buy the SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX?
SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX offers a direct connection to the NBX Call Processor allowing users to
access to the rich NBX feature set. Now you can invoke Call Transfer, Conferencing and Call Park/Pickup
from your conference room. Provides complete access to the 3Com NBX internal name directory, NBX
voice messaging system and multi-site options. It works much like a NBX Desktop phone.
What does the SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX cost?
SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX (North America p/n 2200-06632-001) lists at $999 US MSRP. A 3Com
device license lists at $100 US MSRP is required to allow the unit to operate on the 3Com NBX system
(3Com p/n 3C10282).
Where can I purchase the SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX?
SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX will be available through authorized 3Com resellers that provide NBX
Telephony solutions. These VARs and Service Providers have met the stringent requirements of becoming
certified that include training and technical support for their customers.

What room size does the SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX support?
The phone is ideal for smaller conference rooms and offices. As a rule of thumb, rooms up to 12 x 15 feet
can easily be supported.

What is the difference between SoundStation and SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX?
SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX is the next-generation conference phone that is based on the principle
of transmitting voice packets over IP data networks. SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX can connect
directly to your existing NBX system without terminal adapters or special analog lines. The acoustic/fullduplex
performance of the two products is comparable.
Is the SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX expandable with external microphones?
There is currently no support for external microphones.
What audio codecs does SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBXsupport?
The following codecs are supported: G.711 (A-Law), G.711 (µ-Law) and G.729A. There is currently no
support for G.723.1.
Does SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX have a built in Ethernet switch?
No.
How is the SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX powered?
The SoundStation IP 3000 - 3Com NBX draws power from an AC wall adapter. Power over Ethernet is not
supported.
Installation/Configuration
Do I need to make any changes to my NBX system to be able to connect SoundStation IP 3000 –
3Com NBX to it?
Yes, a device license (p/n 3C10282) needs to be purchased separately from a 3Com reseller to allow the
phone to work. Your system must also be running system software Release 4.0.11 or later. After that, simply
plug the SoundStation IP 3000 – 3Com NBX in, and you are ready to start conferencing! The SoundStation IP 3000
– 3Com NBX behaves just like your NBX handset.
How many SoundStation IP 3000 - 3Com NBX units can be used in a location?
The SoundStation IP 3000 - 3Com NBX is counted like any other IP telephone in a 3Com NBX system. The
same device limitations would apply.
Can a SoundStation IP 3000 - 3Com NBX be used in a remote location?
Yes, the SoundStation IP 3000 - 3Com NBX can be assigned an IP address and act as a remote telephone
on a properly configured 3Com NBX system.
Can the SoundStation IP 3000 - 3Com NBX be run off the 2nd Ethernet port on a NBX desktop
phone?
No, this configuration is not recommended. |
