The Symmetra power array is a single unit composed of modular components. This version, the SY12KEX, is a master-frame model with seven layers or tiers. At the bottom are two Power I/O and transformer modules. The top five layers are each divided into two bays, with a power module on the left side and a battery or intelligence module on the right side. Three 4000VA power modules come installed in the SY12KEX, with two bays open for adding extra power modules later. Three of the four battery module bays are filled, and the intelligence module bay contains both a MIM (Main Intelligence Module) and a RIM (Redundant Intelligence Module).

The design of the Symmetra makes it possible to achieve N+1 redundancy, which is a configuration that includes one more power supply than is needed to support the full load. With N+1 redundancy, if any one power supply fails, the remaining ones are still able to support the load. Because the Symmetra's intelligence module constantly distributes the load evenly among the active power supplies, when a failure occurs in one of them, the load is instantly and automatically redistributed among the power supplies that remain active.

Like the power modules, the Symmetra's battery modules are hot-swappable and user-replaceable. Isolated from the heat-producing power modules, the batteries enjoy a stable lower temperature that maximizes their runtime and longevity. Battery frames which hold up to twelve additional battery modules are available as accessories to the Symmetra, and increase its scaleability to the requirements of your business. A PowerView display console is included with the Symmetra, giving you monitoring and control options in multiple languages. The PowerView attaches to the nose of the Symmetra, or it can be conveniently extended up to 15 feet away. Remote monitoring and management can be performed over a network. PowerNet SNMP Manager software gives you extensive management options, and the system can be configured to automatically broadcast an alert when a failure occurs or when temperature or humidity levels rise outside the tolerance levels of the unit. An audible alarm sounds under certain critical conditions, such as when battery power is low, or there is an overvoltage.

This version of the Symmetra SY12KEX comes with an integrated Power Distribution Unit, which contains three L6-30 receptacles, three L14-30 receptacles, and four 5-15 receptacles.
