The Walker Clarity telephone was the first telephone designed to help those with high frequency hearing loss, a problem affecting 95% of the hearing impaired. Everyone needs upper-range or high frequency sounds to hear complete words clearly. People with high frequency hearing loss can't hear sounds like "st" and "ch," so words like "stair" and "chair" sound like "air." It features a built-in sound equalizer that selectively increases the volume of high frequency sounds, with a noise/distortion level of less than 1% (compared to a 10-20% distortion level on amplified telephones without Clarity Power).
